Why PPE is Important at a Construction Site

personal protective equipment: Why PPE is Important for Construction Site

You might think that some of the dress codes at your construction site are stupid and not worth it, but don’t be deceived: Every rule set in place is there for a reason, even if you don’t know the reason. Personal protective equipment (or PPE) is vital in every workplace, but PPE construction is one of the most critical workplaces of all.

Helmet

Covering your head is vital. What if an errant hammer is dropped off of a 65-foot scaffolding and landed on your head? Your hard hat or helmet will absorb most of the blow and leave you with minimal injuries.

Goggles and Face Mask

If you come into contact with chemicals, sawdust or metal shavings at work, you probably wouldn’t like it very much if something were to get into your eyes or mouth and send you to the ER. While goggles shield your eyes, a face mask prevents you from ingesting anything harmful that could potentially damage your lungs later on.

Gloves

More than for keeping you warm, gloves also protect your fingers from sharp or otherwise dangerous things like tools, glass, and metal. You want ten fingers when you arrive at work and you want ten when you leave.

If you look at www.danielsinsuranceinc.com, you will find plenty of other great uses for PPE on the construction site. Take precautions and protect yourself from on-the-job accidents.
